Center For Peeksters Who Love Peeking

CTP's we want to give you a quick update:

-The flash cables will start going out this week. Everyone should have their cables by 2/6.
-The software upgrade utility is sort of ready but the bad news is that its takes about 10 minutes to update a Peek. Just an FYI; the utility we use at Peek HQ takes about 1 minute to perform the update so we know something is up.

We are working with Texas Instruments to better understand our implementation of the software.

We'd be willing to release the Peek updater to some local CTP's. Anyone from the NYC/SF area want to test the Peek updater? You'd have to be patient while you run the update. We were thinking of keeping it local just in case your Peek gets bricked. We can always recover it at HQ.

Hi Gabe,

During e-mail conversation with Amol he mentioned that you could get me hooked up with the CTP team but hadn't heard from you by e-mail yet so figured I'd stop by here. I got the tracking number for my cable and it's on it's way. I'm in Upstate NY (about 4.5hrs from NYC) but will be in Manhattan Feb 13/14/15 for a valentines weekend with my other half.

Only ten minutes? I've flashed cisco routers and many other devices over true serial that took over a half hour ;-) be glad it's USB. You're definitely right though for a device like the peek it shouldn't take all that long, with 8M ram it can't have that big of a ROM to flash.

Sooo, JUST in case I end up with a paperweight.. should I expect the Marketing Team to be able to unbrick my Peek? Or should I expect to work with NYC under those circumstances?

I am in NYC if you want to make sure that it does not brick first :)

It'll be a race.. whose going to be able to upgrade first? And then... whose going to find the first legit flea LOL?

I just purchased an upgrade cable and Timbuk2 case from the Peek Boutique. What else do I need to do to become a Peek CTP? I'm local (from NYC). Thanks!

Nerves of steel, an unwavering glare, absolute faith in Peek HQ, taking an oath to not have a total cow if your Peek gets bricked. (Half a cow is ok.) and a picture of Gabe carried around on your Peek at all times.

Gabe,
I'm not in SF or NYC, but I don't mind the 10 minutes, or being without my peek for a couple days for the good of the cause.

Ric - you're in as a CTP. Amol did send over your information. The flash upgrade is ready to go so I'll send that along once we figure out how we are going to distribute it. Thanks for participating.

OK - you're in BUT - if you brick your Peek you can't whine when you have to part with it.

Yes Pam - We actually have one of the head software guys over at the Peek Oakland office too. He is one of those genius types that can get it working.

Awesome! Send me your information and let's get this party started.

I assumed that instability or possible brickage was to be expected. Also, I got my cable already, so whenever you have the tool ready, I'm set.
