Center For Peeksters Who Love Peeking

CTP's we want to give you a quick update:

-The flash cables will start going out this week. Everyone should have their cables by 2/6.
-The software upgrade utility is sort of ready but the bad news is that its takes about 10 minutes to update a Peek. Just an FYI; the utility we use at Peek HQ takes about 1 minute to perform the update so we know something is up.

We are working with Texas Instruments to better understand our implementation of the software.

We'd be willing to release the Peek updater to some local CTP's. Anyone from the NYC/SF area want to test the Peek updater? You'd have to be patient while you run the update. We were thinking of keeping it local just in case your Peek gets bricked. We can always recover it at HQ.

Hi Gabe,

Ric - you're in as a CTP. Amol did send over your information. The flash upgrade is ready to go so I'll send that along once we figure out how we are going to distribute it. Thanks for participating.

No problem gabe, if you need an easy place to host the firmware images let me know and I'll set up a secured section of thinkpeek.com for that purpose. If there's anything at all that you need don't hesitate to ask.

Sooo, JUST in case I end up with a paperweight.. should I expect the Marketing Team to be able to unbrick my Peek? Or should I expect to work with NYC under those circumstances?

Yes Pam - We actually have one of the head software guys over at the Peek Oakland office too. He is one of those genius types that can get it working.

Very cool. Hoping a trip across the bridge isn't necessary of course.. but JUST in case. And as a further backup, I'm getting a second Peek soon (I think... waiting for auction to finish tomorrow).

Is the CTP programme still open to new participants?

I'm a CTP with cable anxiously awaiting update software to give it a go! :-)

Loaded late last night. Everything went smooth and finished in about 10 minutes. No probems so far...except I lost the Dusk color (as said would happen). It is MUCH more responsive (I was on 1.04).

Gabe - just letting you know... haven't received the magic cable yet. :)

Loaded no problem. Had an issue on one machine only, with it unable to find the cable. (I'm pretty sure it's my issue, so I'll post more details when I have them.)

Gabe... still no upgrade cable. I know you said it might arrive as late as Saturday. Did you send it on a slow boat to China? LOL I'm not there this week :) :)

Interesting. I have a standard USB Type A to USB Micro-B cable without the serial adaptor on it. Gave it a whirl anyway. It says it detected the cable but couldn't find the Peek. So the cable doesn't work and the software was (I am glad to say) smart enough not to brick my Peek. So I guess I will wait for a cable.

Upgraded my 1.04 peek to the 1.08 software. It's great! Nice smooth transitions with scrolling (no more jumping around! Woo Hoo!). The upgrade worked well on my Windows XP machine. Might I suggest for future builds making shift+backspace a delete key (so that when we scroll through fields in the writing of an e-mail you don't have to do shift+scroll all the way to the end of the subject line to delete that field (a particular pain when sending to 10 digits numbers). Well I have to say I loved my Peek before, but now it's even better, however I would love to have a red theme or even better a screen where we can mess with the RGB of the three colors (large background, little background behind timestamp/transmission details, and the transmission details themselves.) I'm not a coder so I don't know how hard this would be, but it would seem to me a simple screen like that shouldn't be too difficult. I love this thing and I am recommending it to everyone! Looking forward to future updates!

We lose dusk? Please tell me there is something similar to replace it. I am not really a fan of spring, and definately not tangerine.
