Center For Peeksters Who Love Peeking

CTP's we want to give you a quick update:

-The flash cables will start going out this week. Everyone should have their cables by 2/6.
-The software upgrade utility is sort of ready but the bad news is that its takes about 10 minutes to update a Peek. Just an FYI; the utility we use at Peek HQ takes about 1 minute to perform the update so we know something is up.

We are working with Texas Instruments to better understand our implementation of the software.

We'd be willing to release the Peek updater to some local CTP's. Anyone from the NYC/SF area want to test the Peek updater? You'd have to be patient while you run the update. We were thinking of keeping it local just in case your Peek gets bricked. We can always recover it at HQ.

Can't help you, but I can tell you that you're not alone. This is the same error I was getting.

I am having a problem getting the Peek to respond. I have reset it, powered on and off, and removed the battery. Here is the error I am getting:Could not update setting_ini
[/] tmsh$ TMT-ERROR in ls: -209: Uplink timeout
Ok starting tmsh now
Could not update setting_ini
[/] tmsh$ TMT-ERROR in ls: -209: Uplink timeout

Any ideas?

So I got my cable today, hooray! And the software I downloaded from drop.io only upgraded my Peek from 1.04 to 1.06? Did anyone else have this problem? Anyone know what could cause it? The upgrader I ran didn't have the nifty pop up install "wizard" like in the how-to video, and I don't know what I did wrong. (There's a more detailed post at boards.getpeek.com - I just thought I'd post here in case any other CTP had the same issue and could provide a quick answer).

1.06? WOW! We never released 1.06. Go to Peek Manager->Device Info-software version
What does it say there?

Maybe we did release it now that I think about it. Maybe your upgrade didn't work.

When you run upgrade it has a little box that provides status on the application. Can post what it says. Also, try putting the cable in a different USB port. That usually solves the problem. What operating system do you use?

Gabe,
I am using Windows XP, I downloaded the application that doesn't delete. I get the status box and it completes the application, but it doesn't effect the Peek. I've tried 3 different USB ports. Carolyn

I can tell you that by watching the little status box, it appears that the updater never executes. It says "Execute C:\Program Files\Peek\desktop\PeekDesktop.exe" but then that file never opens. Instead it just removes some files and quits. I used the updater that doesn't delete, so I went to that file and tried to open it, and got an error. "The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application." Oh, and I've tried every USB port on my system with the same result.

By the way - I don't know what's up with the 1.06. Tom suggested maybe gremlins. I don't think the updater worked either, but I *do* know that the SW Version said 1.04 before I got the cable and tried the upgrade - and now it very clearly says "SW Version EX:01.06.00". Is it possible that it had been flashed before leaving the warehouse but needed to have the unit reset before the 1.06 install finalized? That's the only other thing I did to it prior to trying to upgrade. I know that I did NOT have 1.06 before. Just the difference in response time since the gremlins got into it has made me fall in love with Peek all over again.
